Simple Energy has told that it is fully prepared to commence delivery of its highly expected electric scooter, the Simple One. Deliveries begin on June 6, and customers in Bengaluru will have the exciting opportunity to receive their long-awaited orders. There have been some significant changes since the scooter's initial debut back in August 2021. Simple One now proudly carries a price tag of Rs 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom). Representing a Rs 35,000 increase compared to the originally advertised price when bookings first opened in 2021.

Shreshth Mishra made it clear that this updated price will be applicable to all pre-booked vehicles. It indicates that there will be no price security for customers who reserved the scooter during its grand unveiling in 2021. Recent government decisions to reduce the FAME-II subsidy should be taken into observation. As they may result in further price increases in the future.

Importantly, it should be highlighted that the revised price does not encompass the highly anticipated 750W charger. This charging accessory is set to become available from September onwards, but customers will need to pay an extra cost of Rs 13,000 to acquire it. Simple Energy has introduced two new colour options, adding an extra touch of style and glitter to the scooter at an extra cost of Rs 5,000. Ankit Gupta, another co-founder of Simple Energy, confirmed that the scooter will come equipped with a standard 250W charger. Unfortunately, it extends the charging times to over 15 hours.

The Simple One proudly retains its dual-battery setup, featuring one fixed pack and one removable pack. The installed battery capacity has now been increased from 4.8 kWh to 5 kWh. Which provides users with enhanced power and performance. Despite the higher battery capacity, the scooter's range has undergone a revision, now reaching 212 kilometres compared to 236 kilometres(IDC). Simple Energy attributes this adjustment to the increase in the scooter's weight, with the product model weighing 134 kg, slightly surpassing some of its competitors in terms of weight.

However, it is important to note that the earlier opportunity for customers to purchase a third battery pack for an extra price of Rs 35,000 is not presently being offered to customers.

One aspect that remains unchanged is the remarkable motor of the Simple One, which has been exclusively developed in-house. This motor delivers a peak output power of 8.5 kW and 72 Nm of torque. Which results in a thrilling acceleration time of 2.77 seconds from 0 to 40 km/h.

Utilizing the 750-watt charger, customers will be pleased to discover that they can charge the Simple One from 0 to 80% in six hours. The fixed battery pack reaches full charge within four hours, ensuring minimal waiting time. Additionally, the removable battery only requires about two hours to attain an 80% charge. Simple Energy has future plans to introduce a public fast-charging network in August, opening up possibilities for rapid charging. This advanced network will enable the Simple One to regain a 1.5 km of range for every minute of charging. Significantly reducing downtime and maximizing convenience for users.
